Plan productive vegetables and herbs around season, sunlight, soil fertility, and harvest timing.
What this section helps you do
- Make decisions from observable growing conditions.
- Follow repeatable steps instead of guessing.
- Recognize warning signs early and respond safely.
- Keep simple records so care improves over time.
Plan the crop
Select vegetables suited to the local season and available sun. Group crops by days to maturity and sow small batches at intervals so everything does not become ready at once.
Prepare the bed
Loosen compacted soil, mix mature compost into the upper layer, level the surface, and water before sowing. Follow final spacing on the seed packet; crowded seedlings stay weak and invite disease.
From sowing to harvest
Keep the seed zone consistently damp until emergence, thin early, mulch after establishment, and check leaves twice weekly. Harvest at the recommended size to encourage continued production.
Essential field checklist
- Write down the date, plant name, location, and current conditions.
- Photograph the whole plant and any affected area before making changes.
- Change one major care factor at a time when possible.
- Review the result after 7–14 days and update the care record.
